I suppose that today I could have made the excuse to stay in my cozy bed with the heater on high blast…hoping that the body aches would eventually go away. But who am I kidding? Being that it’s smack in the middle of high wedding season with deadlines to be met, I have my clients to think about. Clients who are anxiously and excitedly waiting to see their wedding collection. And does this fact cause me to resent my clients or my “job”? Absolutely not. Sure, I don’t exactly have the luxury to “call in sick”…there are no back-up workers…it’s just me to do the work. Instead, I happily drag myself to sit in front of the computer and edit because I think back to the wedding day. I begin to remember girlfriends and mothers getting ready together…laughter and lots of “oohs” and “aaahs”…I see the bride transform into the most beautiful blossom as she puts her veil on…I see the groom as he sets his eyes on his bride for the first time in all her glorious glamour. Or when daddy shakes the hands of the one whom he will entrust his daughter to, and kisses his beloved away. I could go on and on. And I know there are many other photographers out there who value the same priority and would get out of their death bed before ever thinking twice about cancelling on a client. And sadly, there are others who don’t.

So if any of you out there have been blessed with great service from your photographer, please send them a note of encouragement. It’s ok if it’s random. Trust me, it goes a long way…

I love to see how couples from differing cultural backgrounds incorporate theirs traditions into the wedding. R + M started by saying their “I-dos” at the beautiful St James Cathedral, followed by a pit-stop at Starbucks and kicked-off the reception at the Hyatt Hotel lead by Egyptian dancers and drummers. The high energy dancing definitely set the tone for the rest of the evening. But I think my favorite part of the dancing entrance was when the guests all gathered around the bride as she moved to the music so beautifully!

R & M’s wedding had some really fun elements that I’ll share when I post a few of their wedding images in the near future. I must say, I did not mean to let this much time go by without a posting of tasty images, however I will share about what I’ve been up to if you’ve been wondering…

I definitely have been and still am shooting – a plethora of new images are coming your way! A big chunk of this past year has been dedicated to the opening of a new studio space in Santa Monica, CA! The studio is now open alongside John & Joseph Photography. John Hong is my deviously creative husband. He plans to take over the world. In addition to spending time on the studio, there are some exciting new developments for Jane Lee Photography underway that I hope to share in the near future.
